Ayrshire photographers
celebrate Ayr 800
THE next event to celebrate Ayr 800, the year-long festival
to mark the 800th anniversary of Ayr being made a Royal Burgh
by King William the Lion of Scotland, takes place this Friday,
14 January.
It is an audiovisual exhibition of the work of award-winning
Ayrshire photographers.
Amateur photographer Dr Michael Blair has won a top award
in a prestigious international photographic exhibition.
And the exhibition, which includes work by other local photographers,
will be screened at the Craigie Theatre on the Ayr Campus
of the University of Paisley this Friday 14 January at 7.30pm.
From a total entry of over 2,500 slides, Michael’s
set of 6 slides was judged to be the best entry from a Scottish
resident, and received the coveted Alan Steele award.
The Paisley International is the biggest Exhibition of its
kind in the UK and features fabulous photography from photographers
from over 70 countries worldwide.
David Callan and Roy Smith, both keen members of Ayr Photographic
Society, also had photographs accepted for the Exhibition.
David, a highly respected wildlife photographer, had three
pictures selected for the Natural History section portraying
Golden Eagles, Red Grouse and a Wild Mountain Goat. Roy’s
two successful pictures were selected for the General Section
and both featured Scottish landscapes.
The professionally produced show offers a feast of spectacular
photography, with music and commentary, and features stunning
colour slides from professional and amateur photographers
from throughout the world.
Tickets for the multi-projector, audiovisual presentation
are available at £4 from The Beauty Box, Ayr, The Shoe
Gallery, Prestwick, and Seconds First, Girvan.
The remainder of the tickets will be available at the door
